Paris, Robert Etienne, 1536. 4 parts in one volume in-4, [8], 168, [8], 203, [13] p., first edition of this treatise on navigation illustrated with 23 woodcuts, some repeated, depicting antique ships, followed by “De re Vestiaria” on costume, illustrated with 3 in-text engravings, “De vasculis” on antique vases, illustrated with 6 woodcuts, and concluding with Antonio Telesio’s Libellus de coloribus, the first monograph on colors first printed in 1528. Bound in full later vellum, smooth titled spine. (minor loss of vellum on second board, some soiling, very slight traces of wetness).
