One of 950 copies (total edition: 1000 copies). Signed by Pat and Rosemarie Keough. One of the most elaborate book productions of all time. When this monumental homage to the South Polar eternal ice and its flora and fauna was published, the press reviews were overflowing with superlatives: “A book for eternity” (SZ, March 1, 2005), “Majesty… An obsession… The ultimate … Among the finest original art books produced in modern times” (Los Angeles Times, January 20, 2004) or “This is the most impressive and evocative collection of photographs of Antarctica. “These images capture all the subtleties of light, shape and texture of the Antarctic like no other book” (British Antarctic Survey). Everything about this book claimed the adjective “exclusive”: binding (fine goatskin), bookbinding (two seamstresses worked on it for two years), paper (from Wisconsin), printing (in Vancouver, using a special lithographic process), etc. The book received numerous awards. The work received countless awards. Rosemarie Keough once told of a buyer who only turns one page a day in his house in Vancouver. Antarctica requires sacred acts to celebrate the beauty of the South Pole. – Almost perfect, only the tiny rubbing of the front cover is to be noted, presumably due to the production process. – In the original shipping carton with polystyrene insert. – Press documentation enclosed.
